Social Democratic Party
Published 4th April, 2011
Founded in 2000 the party drew support from the New Democracy and National Democratic Initiative. They describe themselves as centre left and are affiliated to Socialist International and are observers of the Party of European Socialists.
In 2001 the PS won 6 seats and 30% of the vote. In 2005 they won 11 seats with 38.1% of the vote and in 2009 they took 14 of the 28 seats in the General Council with 45.03% of the vote.
In 2011, however, they did poorly and were defeated by the new Democrats for Andorra; in this election the PS took just 34.8% of the vote and won 7 of the 28 seats. By 2015 they had dropped back to just three seats.
