The Republican Proposal or PRO was founded in 2005 as an alliance between Commitment to Change a largely Buenos Aires based party and Recreate for Growth both of which are right wing parties. Ideologically they describe themselves as conservative and right wing.
In the 2005 general election the PRO won nine of the 127 seats contested for the 257 seat Chamber of Deputies. In 2007 they won a further two seats giving them 13 deputies in the Chamber of Deputies.
In 2009 the Republican Proposal won 11 of the 127 seats up for election in the 257 Chamber of Deputies but no Senators.
PRO currently governs the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
Recreate for Growth or Recrear is an observer member of the Liberal International and an observer of the regional Union of Latin American Parties.
