Liberal National Party of Queensland

The Liberal National Party of Queensland was founded on 26th July 2008 and is a merger of the Queensland divisions of the Liberal and National parties. As such it is not a federal party but it does have distinct representation in the federal parliament. The party describes itself as Centre-right and believes in Australian conservatism, Australian liberalism and Agrarianism. It is currently part of the Tony Abbott led Coalition.

In the 2010 federal election the party won 20 of the 150 seats in the House of Representatives and six seats in the Senate.

In 2012 the party won 78 of the 89 seats in the Parliament of Queensland.

Its current leader is Campbell Newman who is also the Premier of Queensland.
