The Motherland Party was established in 1990. The party describes itself as centre-right and believes in National Conservatism. It describes its goals as ‘to create a free, powerful, democratic and entire Azerbaijan’.
The party won one seat in the 1995/6 election and the 2000/1 election. In 2005 it won two of the 125 seats in the National Assembly and held those two seats in 2010.
