King Philippe is Head of State (as of 21st July 2013).
The bicameral parliament consists of the Senate and Chamber of People’s Representatives.
The Senate has 71 members, 40 of whom are elected through proportional representation for a four year term and 31 by an electoral college of elected members. From the 2014 elections and following the sixth state reform the Senate will become an assembly of regional parliaments, with fewer members. The Chamber of People’s Representatives has 150 members elected by proportional representation for a four year term.
