Cape Verde Democratic and Independent Union

The UCID is a centre right party which was founded in 1974 by exiles opposed to the government of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV).
The UCID first fought the 1995 general election picking up 1.54% of the vote but no seats.
It was part of the Democratic Alliance for Change (ADM) in the 2001 elections. Where the ADM won two seats in the National Assembly in the 2001 election. In 2006 the UCID stood independently again and won two seats of the 76 seats with 2.64% of the vote.
