The ADP was launched in 1991 and became a founder member of the Consultative Group of Democratic Forces (CFD).
In 1993 the ADP supported the unsuccessful CFD Presidential Candidate, whilst the party secured six of the 85 seats in the National Assembly.
In 1998 the ADP won five of 109 seats and in 2005 they won two of 105 seats.
In 2005 the ADP fielded a Presidential candidate, Olivier Gabriault who received .8% of the vote. They have not fielded a candidate in the 2011 election.
