Published 18th January, 2011

The RDC was founded in May 1986 as the sole ruling party of the regime of General Kolingba.  The RDC stood the only authorised candidates in the July 1987 elections but followed their party leader in 1991 and recognised multi-party elections.

In 1993 President Kolingba lost the Presidential election to Ange-Félix Patassé.  In the general election the RDC won only 13 of the 85 seats.  In 1998 they won 20 of 109 seats and in 2005 they won 8 of 105 seats making them the third largest party in the National Assembly.

The RDC Presidential candidate for the 2011 elections is Emile Gros Raymond Nakombo.
