Colombian Green Party

The Colombian Green Party was founded on 25th November 2005 by Carlos Ramón González Merchan and Elías Pineda. They are a Centre-left party and they believe in Green politics, “centre-environmentalism”, Participatory politics, Democratic security and “Post-Uribism”.
In the 2010 presidential election the Green Party presidential candidate, Antanas Mockus, took Juan Manuel Santos to a second round but lost to him with 27.47% of the vote to 69.13%. In the general election they took five of the 102 seats in the Senate and three of the 164 seats in the Chamber of Representatives.
The Colombian Green Party is a member of the Federation of the Green Parties of the Americas.
