The National Integration Party or PIN was founded in November 2009. The party describes itself as Right wing and believes in Colombian nationalism and Conservatism.
The party has been linked to the so called “Colombian parapolitics scandal” in which some politicians are reported to have had links with paramilitary groups; the scandal started back in 2006 but still reverberates through society.
Whatever their background, the party managed to win 9 of the 102 Senate seats and 12 of the 164 seats in the Chamber of Representatives in the 2010 general election.
