The Croatian Party of Pensioners or HSU was formed in 1996 with the goal of protecting the rights and interests of pensioners. It describes itself as a single issue party.
The party did not contest the 2000 election but in 2003 they won three seats and 4% of the vote. After the election they agreed to support the Ivo Sanader coalition government, although they have been known to support both left and right in pursuit of their single issue goals.
In 2007 the party won just a single seat with 4.1% of the vote and they continued to support the Sanader government. However, after a falling out they withdrew their support from the HDZ government in 2009.
