Public Affairs or VV was founded in 2001 and is concentrated around Prague. The party describes itself as Centre-right and believes in Conservative Liberalism, Right-wing populism and Direct Democracy.
The party does not appear to have won any seats in the 2002 or 2006 general elections, but in 2010 they won 24 seats. As a result they became a junior member of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) led government of Petr Nečas.
In April 2011 Vít Bárta, the Minister of Transport and leading Public Affairs figure, was accused of bribery by his colleagues and the ongoing battles have severely divided the party especially because part of its main platforms has been anti-corruption.
On 3rd May 2012 the Liberal Democrats or LIDEM was founded as a breakaway group from the Public Affairs party and the remaining rump has a negligible showing in recent opinion polls.
