Social Democratic Party

The Social Democratic Party or PSD was launched in September 2000 on a centrist agenda. It describes itself as social democratic.
In the 2001 Constituent Assembly elections, the party won six of the 88 seats.
In 2007 the party formed an alliance with the Timorese Social Democratic Association (ASDT) and together they won 11 of the 65 seats in the new National parliament.
