Popular Orthodox Rally

The Popular Orthodox Rally or LAOS was launched by George Karatzaferis, former ND MP, the party is positioned as a right-wing populist group defending national and Orthodox Christian values.
In 2002 LAOS gained 13.6% of the vote in local elections but had sunk to 2.19% by the March 2004 Parliamentary elections when it won no seats. It did, however, win 4.1% in the June 2004 European elections which gave it I seat in the European Parliament. It made a breakthrough in the 2007 elections when it won 10 seats (3.80%), rising to 15 seats (5.63%) in 2009.
