Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania

The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania or AWPL was founded in 1994 after social organisations were expected to establish themselves as political parties or social organisations. They represent the interests of the Polish minority community in Lithuania. The party describes itself as centre-right and believes in Conservatism.
In 1996 the party won one seat and in 2000 increased this to two seats. They took two seats again in the 2004 general election and in 2008 increased this to three seats in the 141 seat Seimas.
The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania is a member of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists and in the European Parliament where it holds one of 12 national seats it is a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists group.
