Liberal Party of Macedonia

The Liberal Party of Macedonia or LPM was founded in 1989 as the Alliance of Reform Forces of Macedonia (SRSM).
The LPM was a part of the SDSM government of 1992, but broke away in 1996. Following a merger with the Democratic Party (DP) they became the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) for a while, but then a group broke away once more and the party was reformed in 2000.
In the 2002 election the LPM won five seats and was part of the VMRO-DPMNE coalition. Again they were part of the same coalition in 2006 and won two seats. In 2008 they switched to supporting the SDSM once more and were part of their Sun – Coalition for Europe and won five seats.
The describe their ideology as Liberalism and they are members of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party.
