National Rally for Reform and Development

The National Rally for Reform and Development (Tewassoul) or RNRD was founded in 2007. The party is an Islamist party and it believes in Sunni Islamism, Islamic democracy and Religious conservatism.
The RNRD Presidential candidate in the 2009 election was their leader, Mohamed Jemil Ould Mansour; he came fourth with 4.76% of the vote.
In the 2013 general election the party won 16 seats in the 146 National Assembly, coming second with around 13% of the vote.
Tewassoul is the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Mauritania.
