Union for Democracy and Progress

The Union for Democracy and Progress or UDP was founded in 1993 by Hamdi Ould Mouknass a former minister under President Daddah.

Although they fought the 1996 they did not win any seats. In 2001 the party won three of the 81 seats in the National Assembly and similarly they won three seats in the enlarged 95 seat assembly in 2006.

In the 2013 general election the UDP won six seats in the 146 seat National Assembly.
