Jim Anderton’s Progressive Party

Jim Anderton’s Progressive Party was founded as the Progressive Party in 2002 and named after its founder in 2005. It describes itself as left of the Labour Party and believes in democratic socialism and progressivism. Their aim is full employment.

The Progressive party was formed as a faction of the Alliance Party when Jim Anderton was expelled by the party. In 2002 the party managed to win two seats but in 2005 and 2008 were reduced to one seat, that of Jim Anderton’s.
