Tautua Samoa Party
Published 16th February, 2011
The Tautua Samoa is a new party, founded in December 2008 by 11 independent members of parliament to provide an opposition to the HRPP. There have been difficulties in getting the party to be formally recognised because of the constitution relating to members of parliament forming a new party.
Nevertheless, the party is contesting the 2011 general election and has formed an alliance with the Samoa Party (the two parties have merged), the United Samoa People’s Party (USPP) and several independents. They have also been in talks with the People’s Party.
At the time of writing the Tautua Samoa Party was having difficulty in getting some of its candidates registered, but they have a manifesto and have launched their campaign.
