Force for Change Democratic Movement-Liberal Party

The Force for Change Democratic Movement-Liberal Party or MDFM-PL was formed in 2001 by President Fradique de Menezes and his supporters to fight the 2002 general election. They fought the campaign in alliance with the Democratic Convergence Party-Reflection Group (PCD-GR) and won 39.4 % of the vote and 23 of the 55 seats in the National Assembly.
Fradique de Menezes also won the 2006 presidential election with 60.58% of the vote.
In 2006 they stood again in alliance with the PCD-GR and won 23 seats with 37.07% of the vote. But in 2010 they stood alone and were reduced to one seat with 7.27% of the vote.
