The League of Vojvodina Social Democrats or LSV was founded in 1990 in Novi Sad and is a regionalist party which believes in social democracy and regionalism.
The party opposed the government of Slobodan Milošević mainly for its nationalist policies. It believes that there should be greater autonomy for Vojvodina.
In 2000 the party joined the Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS) and was able to win seats in both the National Assembly of Serbia as well as the Vojvodina parliament.
In 2003 the party became part of the Together for Tolerance coalition which won no seats that year. In 2007 the LSV joined with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) alliance that won 15 seats and in 2008 the party joined the ‘For a European Serbia’ led by Boris Tadić which won 102 seats; the party currently holds five of those seats in the National Assembly of Serbia.
In 2012 the party continues its alliance with Boris Tadić’s Democratic Party and has joined the ‘Choice for a Better Life’ alliance.
