Liberal Democratic Party

The Liberal Democratic Party or LDP was founded in 2005 by Čedomir Jovanović as a splinter group from the Democratic Party (DS). The party describes itself as centre-left and believes in social liberalism.
In the 2007 general election the party ran a list with three other parties and collectively they won 15 of the 250 seats in the National Assembly of Serbia; of these the LDP took five seats. In 2008 the party ran in a loose alliance with two other parties and won 13 seats.
For the 2012 election the Liberal Democratic Party has joined forces with seven other parties in an alliance called the Čedomir Jovanović – Turnover.
The Liberal Democratic Party is a member of Liberal International as well as the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party.
