The People’s Movement for Democratic Change or PMDC was founded in January 2006 as a splinter faction from the Sierra Leone People’s Party. The party describes itself as centre-left and believes in Social Democracy and Social Liberalism.
In the 2007 general election the PMDC was the third and final party to win any seats, taking 10 seats in the 124 seat House of Representatives. Its presidential candidate, Charles Margai, came third with 13.89% of the vote. Controversially, the PMDC supported the APC candidate, Ernest Bai Koroma in the second round of the presidential election.
