Civic Conservative Party

Published 31st January, 2012

The Civic Conservative Party or OKS was founded in November 2001 as a breakaway group from the Democratic Party (DS). It describes itself as centre-right and believes in Liberal conservatism and soft Euroscepticism.

In the 2002, 2006 and 2008 elections the party failed to win representation, although it has done better at local elections by taking a number of mayoral positions.

In 2010 fourteen members of the OKS stood on the Most-Hid party list and four were elected. They form part of the Most-Hid parliamentary group and as such joined the SDKÚ-DS coalition government of Iveta Radičová

The Civic Conservative Party is a member of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists.
