Most-Hid was founded in 2009 by a breakaway group from the Party of the Hungarian Coalition (SMK). It describes itself as centre-right and believes in inter-ethnic cooperation, Liberal conservatism and Hungarian minority interests.

In the 2010 general election the party won 14 of the 150 seats in the National Council (four of those seats are from the Civic Conservative Party which fought on the Most-Hid list).
