African Christian Democratic Party

The African Christian Democratic Party or ACDP was founded on 9th December 1993. The party believes in the Christian right, Social conservatism and Economic liberalism.
When first established the party campaigned for the social and economic transformation of of the country based upon a “moral, judicial and ethical system, open market economics and direct democracy”.
In the 1994 general election it won two seats, that went up to six seats in 1999 and then seven seats in 2004. But in 2009 the party fared less well and won just three seats in the 400 seat National Assembly. It retained its three seats in 2014 but with a reduced vote bank.
