The United Christian Democratic Party or UCDP was founded by Lucas Mangope, former President of the ‘independent homeland of Bophuthatswana’ in 1997. The party believes in Christian Democracy.

The party drew much of its original support from the Bophuthatswana Democratic Party and in 1999 it won three seats. The party draws most of its support from the North West Province where the Republic of Bophuthatswana was based.

In 2004 the party retained its three seats, in 2009 it dropped to two seats and in 2014 it lost its parliamentary representation managing just 21,744 votes and 0.12% of the vote.
