Unified Progressive Party

The United Progressive Party or UPP was founded on 5th December 2011 as a merger between the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) (founded 2000) and the People’s Participation Party (PPP) (founded 2010). Both parties describe themselves as centre-left and believe in left wing nationalism, democratic socialism and Korean Liberalism.
In the 2000 election the DLP won no seats, but in 2004 they took 10 seats in the 299 seat National Assembly. In 2008 the DLP was reduced to five seats.
