Bicameral. The Council of States has 50 members indirectly elected by state legislatures to serve six-year terms. The National Assembly has 450 seats of which 60% are from geographic constituencies, 25% from a women’s list, and 15% from party lists. Members serve six year terms.
The Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2016 places Sudan at joint 170th out of 176 countries with a CPI 2016 score of 14 (where 100 is least corrupt).
