The Green Liberal Party of Switzerland was founded in 2004 as a breakaway group from the Green Party of Switzerland who were seen by the founder members as too fundamentalist. The Green Liberal Party describes itself as centre and espouses green liberalism and economic liberalism.
In the 2007 election the party took 1.7% of the vote and three seats in the National Council, the lower house.
