Syrian Communist Party

The Syrian Communist Party was originally founded in 1925 and is currently part of the Ba’ath led National Progressive Front. They describe themselves as left-wing and believe in communism and Marxism-Leninism.
The current party emerged after a split in the party in 1986 and has held eight seats in the Syrian parliament until 2007 when they dropped to five seats.
