Motherland Party

The Motherland Party (sometimes referred to as For the Motherland) or Puea Pandin Party was formed on 11th September 2007 by a group of defecting politicians from the Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT) following the dissolution of the TRT in the May of that year.

In the December 2007 election the Motherland Party came fourth with 24 of 480 seats in the House of Representatives.

As of 9th May 2011 the Motherland Party has decided to merge with the Thais United Development Party (Ruam Chart Pattana Party) (RC). The joint party will be called the Chart Pattana Puea Pandin Party.

The PPD describe their platform as having progressive economic policies.
