Thai Pride Party

The Thai Pride Party or Bhumjaithai, BJT was formed on 5th November 2008 in anticipation of the dissolution of their former party the Neutral Democratic Party in the December.

The Neutral Democratic Party or Phak Matchima Thippathai was itself formed in 2006 by a former Cabinet minister of the Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT) which had been dissolved. After fighting the 2007 general election the Neutral Democratic Party took seven of 480 seats in the general election but was dissolved in the December of 2008, hence the formation of the BJT.

The Bhumjaithai Party became a member of the Democrat Party led coalition in December 2008. It describes its policy platform as populist and similar to that of the Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT) of Thaksin Shinawatra.
