Movement of Socialist Democrats

The Movement of Socialist Democrats or MDS was founded in 1978 but was not recognised until November 1983. It describes itself as social democratic.
The MDS achieved little until the 1994 election when it won ten seats. In 1999 that figure went up to 13 and then to 14 in 2004. In 2009 the MDS was the second largest party with 16 seats and 4.63% of the vote in the 214 seat Chamber of Deputies.
