All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda”
Published 14th October, 2012
The All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda” was founded in 1991 and until 2004 was known as the Social-National Party of Ukraine. The party describes itself as far-right and believes in right wing populism and Ukrainian Nationalism. It is also known for being anti-Communist.
The party has not won a single seat in parliamentary elections but has been successful in local government.
In the 2012 elections the party appears to be doing well in the opinion polls and may, for the first time, breach the 5% threshold for parliamentary representation.
Svoboda is a member of the Alliance of European National Movements (AENM).
