Democrats lead in the South

Published

According to a new poll by Hat Yai University, the Democrat Party is leading in six provinces in the south of Thailand. Traditionally a strong area for them, in the party lists they are on 52.5% compared with 18.5% for the opposition Pheu Thai Party. They are also said to be ahead in 22 of 24 constituencies.

Meanwhile, advance voting took place yesterday (Sunday) across Thailand from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The voting was said to have proceeded smoothly although there were some technical hitches that would need to be sorted before next Sunday’s election.

A total of 2.6 million of the 47.3 million registered voters opted to vote early; of those, around 1.49 million or 55.6% exercised their vote.
