Nigeria

Jonathan wins nomination

Published

President Goodluck Jonathan has won the primary election for the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).  He defeated former Vice-President, Mr Atiku Abubakar and Ms Sarah Jubril to take 77.7% of the votes..

The PDP has been the party of government since 1999 and despite a coalition of opposition parties forming to try and defeat them in this year’s elections the probability is that the PDP will win once more.

The Nigerian Parliamentary election is due on 2nd April and the Presidential election will take place on 9th April 2011.
