Latest poll shows all to play for

The latest poll by Harris Interactive for VSD magazine puts Sarkozy ahead by a fraction in the presidential race.

Although official campaigning doesn’t start until 9th April, Sarkozy and his socialist rival François Hollande have both been working their way across France.

In the latest poll Nicolas Sarkozy is on 28% with François Hollande on 27%. The hard left candidate, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who wants to tax the rich 100% continues to rise and is now on 13% of the vote. Far right candidate Marine le Pen remains static on 16% and centrist François Bayrou has dropped back to 11%.

Meanwhile AFP reports that an Ifop poll on Sunday suggests that as many as 32% of voters may not bother to vote in the first round scheduled for 22nd April.
