New Democracy and Syriza slog it out

The Greek general election is becoming a fight between the anti-bailout Syriza party and the old centre-right and pro-bailout New Democracy (ND).

Two polls published this weekend give both parties the lead. The better known Public Issue Poll for Skai TV gives Syriza 30% and New Democracy on 26%. The former governing party, Pasok, are third on 15.5%.

Another poll by a new agency, Data RC, gives New Democracy the lead with 29.4% and Syriza second on 28.8%.

The election takes place on 17th June.
