Rosen Plevneliev of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) leads in the latest Gallup poll, released through the Sofia News Agency, in the presidential election.

Plevneliev is on 29% of the vote with the main opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) candidate, Ivailo Kalfin in second place with 21%. Former European Commissioner, Meglana Kuneva who is standing as an Independent is on 11% of the vote.

The poll, conducted earlier this month, shows that if there were a general election today GERB would receive 32% of the vote and the BSP 20%. However, 31% said that they would not vote and 57% felt that Bulgaria was heading in the wrong direction.
