Polls put New Democracy ahead

Published

A new set of polls published last weekend suggest that pro bailout and centre right party New Democracy has taken the lead.

The new polls by Eleftheros Typos/Pulse, Proto Thema/Alco, Real News/MRB, To Vima/Kapa and Ethnos/MARC put New Democracy on between 25.6% and 27.7% of the vote according to the Athens News. The anti-bailout left wing party Coalition of the Radical Left, better known as Syriza has dropped to between 20.1% and 26%.

Immediately after the 6th May 2012 general election Syriza romped into the lead in opinion polls, but since then the Greek voters seem to be having a rethink about the effects on Greece if the country was to leave the Eurozone.

The second general election of the year will take place on 17th June.
