Published

The Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has chosen Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential running mate.

Paul Ryan (42) is the Representative for Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1998 and has a degree in economics and political science. Currently he chairs the House Budget Committee and although little known across the country is known within Congress for his economic knowledge. Paul Ryan is a Roman Catholic and is married with three children.

In 2011Ryan introduced an alternative to the Obama budget plan which he called ‘The Path to Prosperity’. The document would make substantial changes to Medicare and it is this policy which is likely to dominate at least the next phase of the election campaign.
