Romney wins Nevada

Published

Mitt Romney is comfortably on the way to winning the Nevada caucus. With 44.6% of the votes counted he is well ahead in all but three of the seventeen administrative divisions.

Mitt Romney has taken, so far, 42.6% of the vote, with Newt Gingrich trailing on 26%. Ron Paul comes third with 18.5% and Rick Santorum on 13%; neither of the later two candidates have spent much time on Nevada, choosing instead to concentrate on forthcoming states, Paul in Minnesota and Santorum in Colorado.

Mitt Romney is now the candidate to beat with a widening lead over Newt Gingrich.
