United States

Romney wins Washington

Published

Mitt Romney has won the Washington Republican caucus which took place on Saturday. Near final results suggest that he has taken 36% of the vote of those involved. Rick Santorum and Ron Paul were neck and neck on 24% to 25% of the vote and Newt Gingrich trailed on 11%.

The major event of the season takes place tomorrow when ten states will vote. Normally this would be the point where one candidate stands clear of the rest. However, this year it looks as though the voting is likely to drag on well into May with Rick Santorum remaining a threat to Romney.
