Runoff between Plevneliev and Kalfin most likely

A new opinion poll by the National Centre for Study of Public Opinion suggests that there will be a second round runoff in the Bulgarian presidential election on 23rd October. The likely date for the runoff will be 30th October.

The two candidates vying for top place would appear to be Rossen Plevneliev of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) who is standing at just under 50% of the poll, and Ivailo Kalfin of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) who is on 28%.

The third placed contender, ex European Commissioner for Consumer Protection Meglena Kuneva is standing on 9% of the vote. She is standing as an Independent.
