Santorum wins Louisiana

Published

Rick Santorum has comfortably won the state of Louisiana for the Republican presidential candidate vote. He took 49% to Mitt Romney’s 26.7%. Newt Gingrich took 15.9% and Ron Paul was on 6.1%.

There are 46 delegates for the state to the national convention in August but only 20 were allocated in yesterday’s contest. The remaining 26 delegates will be decided at a Republican state convention in June.

Mitt Romney remains the frontrunner in the Republican battle despite failing to make any breakthrough in the southern states.
