A total of ten states will be holding primaries and caucuses today in what is known as Super Tuesday. The ten states with the number of delegates and the nature of the contest is listed below:
Alaska, caucus, 27 delegates
Georgia, open primary, 76 delegates
Idaho, binding caucus, 32 delegates
Massachusetts, semi closed primary, 41 delegates
North Dakota, binding caucus, 28 delegates
Ohio, semi closed primary, 66 delegates
Oklahoma, closed primary, 43 delegates
Tennessee, open primary 58 delegates
Vermont, open primary, 17 delegates
Virginia, open primary, 50 delegates.
There are a myriad of polls in all of the states, but the breakdown appears to be a no clear winner for this Super Tuesday. Mitt Romney is well ahead in Massachusetts, Vermont and Virginia, but is neck and neck with Rick Santorum in Ohio. Newt Gingrich is well ahead of all his rivals in Georgia, whilst Rick Santorum leads in Tennessee.
