Bozize wins election

Published

The CAR Electoral Commission has announced that current President Francois Bozize has won the 23rd January presidential poll, taking 66% of the vote.

Second place contender Ange-Felix Patasse, who was President until he was ousted in 2003 by Bozize, received 20% of the vote.

The constitutional court will have until next week to confirm the provisional results.  Up to four contenders are talking about challenging the results in what they describe as a fraudulent election.
