Candidates file petitions

Published

Ten candidates, including main opposition leader John Fru Ndi have filed petitions with the Supreme Court asking for the recent presidential election to be declared null and void or for a partial cancellation of the election.

The election, which took place on 9th October, is expected to be won by incumbent president Paul Biya although results have not yet been released. International observers say the elections were largely free, but local people point to the low education levels of voters and lack of opportunity to campaign.
